Updated Requirements for Businesses under the Building Fire Safety Act 2022
The Building Fire Safety Act 2022 introduced significant updates to fire safety regulations for businesses. Effective from October 1st 2023, all Responsible Persons must now record their completed fire risk assessments in full, including the identity of any individuals or organisations involved in the assessment.
Additionally, businesses are required to conduct regular fire risk assessments to identify potential fire risk hazards and implement measures to mitigate those risks. Training for nominated fire marshals is also mandated to ensure they are prepared to handle emergencies and assist in evacuations.
All staff must undergo fire safety training to ensure they are prepared in case of a fire emergency. This training typically includes recognising fire hazards, fire extinguisher training, evacuation procedures, and emergency response.
