Compliance
On the 1st October 2006, the government introduced The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRFSO). This simplified and consolidated the existing fire safety legislation. Fire certificates were replaced by fire risk assessments, which are the responsibility of the employer and not the Fire Authority.
The Building Fire Safety Act 2022 introduced significant updates to fire safety regulations for businesses. Effective from October 1st 2023, all Responsible Persons must now record their completed fire risk assessments in full. Businesses are required to conduct regular fire risk assessments to identify potential fire risk hazards and implement measures to mitigate those risks.
When is a Fire Risk Assessment Required?
Fire risk assessments are required for all non-domestic premises, including the common parts of blocks of flats and houses in multiple occupations (HMOs).
