Confined Space Medicals

The HSE define a confined space as is a place which is substantially enclosed (though not always entirely), and where serious injury can occur from hazardous substances or conditions within the space or nearby (e.g. lack of oxygen).

Our qualified Occupational Health professional can carry out medicals to establish if any pre-existing medical conditions or prescribed medication is likely to have an effect on the person’s ability to work in a confined space. We can also help by recommending control measures or support provision so that you can ensure compliance with HSW Act 1974 and MHSW Regulations.

Where can Confined Space Medical be Carried Out

As with most of our services, these can be at your workplace or our offices in Wootton Bassett. If it’s only a handful of people or individuals then our office works well otherwise it makes sense to arrange at your workplace.

What are Night Worker Health Assessments?

Shift workers, particularly those who work at night, may be at risk of ill health because shift work can disrupt our body clock (by interfering with the production of hormones by the body), disturb sleep and cause fatigue.

What is a Lung Function Test?

Respiratory screening or lung function testing is just that, checking the function of the lungs to make sure nothing at work is reducing the employees function.

Managing Driving at Work Risks

More than a quarter of all road traffic incidents may involve somebody who is driving as part of their work at the time (Department for Transport figures).1 Health and safety law applies to work activities on the road in the same way as it does to all work activities and you need to manage the risks to drivers as part of your health and safety arrangements.

What is an Occupational Health Assessment?

An Occupational Health Assessment is a consultation carried out by our qualified Occupational Health Professionals.
