Nick Evans

Nick Evans

Managing Director

Nick has worked in the health and safety industry for 18 years. He formed Safewell because he wanted businesses to benefit from sensible and easy to understand occupational health, and health & safety advice. Where time permits Nick is an examiner for the NEBOSH a National qualifications body. In his spare time Nick runs Movewell Taekwondo and is a 5th Degree black belt. He also enjoys road cycling, strength and movement training, and spending quality time with his family. There is a real passion behind the reasons he created Safewell, but three reasons stand out:

To promote accessible, sensible and proportionate health and safety advice for all businesses

To change the image of health and safety consultants to dynamic and enabling professionals

To promote the high standards necessary to give competent health and safety advice

Occupational Health Director

Gail heads up our occupational health division and has worked for over 25 years in occupational health and safety, many of which in senior positions. Being dual trained in occupational Health, and health & Safety enables Gail to offer a unique service to our clients, which is second to none. Gail has a passion for Occupational Health and believes that good health is good for all businesses and healthier workplaces have better financial results.

In her spare time Gail enjoys the theatre, spending time at her holiday home and looking after her grandson.

Joy Forrest

Office Manager

Joy joined Safewell in 2012 after having a career break to look after her son. Joy is Safewell’s Office Manaager and keep everyone in check! As well as answer phones and booking appointments she takes the lead in organising and managing all the medical records, which is no mean feat. Joy has a background in Sales and reception which shines through when you are greated by her on the phone. She also get involved directly with occupational health customers visiting new and existing customers to help ensure a tip top service. In her spare time Joy like socialising with friends, reading and going to the cinema.

Tracey O'Neil

Tracey O'Neil

Occupational Health and Safety Administrator

Tracey joined Safewell Ltd in March 2016 after being out of the office for a few years working in care and hotel hospitality allowing her to work and taking time to bring up her son. Her background is in secretarial and office work, management and letting.

If you call the Safewell offices you are likely to speak to Tracey or Joy first.

In her spare time Tracey likes to cook with a nice glass of red! and evenings out with friends. Also when she is not taxi driving her son around to various activities, enjoys taking watching films at the local cinema.

Michelle Jeal

Health and Safety Adviser

Michelle joined the Safewell Team in 2013. She has been working in health and safety for over 20 years and has experience working in enforcement within the public sector as an Environmental Health Officer and as a Health and Safety Consultant within private consultancies and large organisations. She also has qualifications in Food Safety Management and Fire Safety.

When not taxi driving her children to various activities, in her spare time Michelle enjoys; singing in the local choir, running, mountain walking and socialising with family and friends over dinner and wine.

Health and Safety Adviser

Helen joined Safewell’s Health and Safety Team in January 2016. She began her H&S career qualifying and working for 8 years as an HSE Inspector in the south west doing inspection, investigation, audit and enforcement work. This was in a variety of industry sectors with employers of all sizes as well as with major public sector employers, particularly local authorities, NHS Trusts and the MOD. She then left HSE specifically to broaden her knowledge and experience in facilities management and construction and worked as a Site Manager/H&S Advisor in education and housing for 9 years.

In her spare time Helen enjoys playing league squash and taking her two dogs out for long country walks.

Health and Safety Adviser

David is a member Safewell’s Health and Safety team. He joined in 2015 seeking career change and to meet Safewell’s growing demand for health and safety services.

He currently holds the NEBOSH General Certificate and is studying for the NEBOSH diploma.

In his spare time David is a 5th Degree black belt and former international champion in Taekwondo and enjoys early morning training and backgammon.

Steve Mercer

Health and Safety Adviser

Steve joined Safewell’s Health and Safety Team in September 2018. He began his working career as a Timed Served Apprentice as a Mechanical Engineer, before moving into Health, Safety and Environmental as a HS&E Adviser at a large Aerospace Manufacturer. His HS&E career then saw him move into another Aerospace and Automotive manufacturing company and has gained more than 15 years’ experience within HS&E.

He currently holds the NEBOSH General Certificate, NVQ level 5 Diploma in Occupational, Health and Safety Management and is currently studying for a BSc (Hons) Degree in Occupational Safety, Health and the Environmental Management.

In Steve’s spare time he enjoys spending time with his 3 children, socializing with friends and family and going to the gym.

Occupational Health Adviser

Sally worked as an registered nurse for seven years before making a career change to occupational health within the NHS. She joined Safewell in 2016 to broaden her training.

She is married with three children. In her spare time, Sally enjoys knitting and crochet with “assistance” from her three dogs and cat.

Mike Gatrill

Mike Gatrill

Occupational Health Technician

Mike started with Safewell as an Occupational health technician in January 2017 and brings with him a wealth of knowledge from the world of personal training and sports therapy, with over 15 years experience. He has also worked for the NHS Out of Hours Service as a Co-ordinator which gave him invaluable experience working with many different medical cases that required the use of various resources to suggest the most appropriate care to those patients.  With many other roles that he has performed from care assistant to an RAF reserves serviceman and much more, Mike bring a wealth of experience and understanding to the Safewell team.

Occupational Health Technician

Lindsey started with Safewell as an Occupational health technician in July 2017. Her early career was as a Registered General Nurse and she moved into Occupational Health nursing in 1982.  Lindsey gained the Occupational Health Nursing Diploma from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1994 whilst working for an international food manufacturer.  After a career break (going back packing around the world), she worked as an HCA at a hospice and is now delighted to be back doing Occupational Health again for Safewell.  Lindsey brings lots of experience in many different areas of OH.

Occupational Health Technician

Ida joined Safewell in 2015 looking for a new challenge following a background in Health and Social Care. She is part of the Occupational Health Team and most of her time is spent with customers carrying out health surveillance for their staff at their places of work.

At home she has a small ‘zoo’ with a dog, chickens and a hamster; alongside the zoo she grows a bit of fruit and veg in the garden. She is also what somebody might call an obsessive DIY’er and enjoy all sorts of creative activities. Her other interests include cooking, keeping fit and healthy, travelling and spending time with family and friends.

Occupational Health Technician

Scott joined Safewell as an Occupational Health Technician in October 2018. Scott has previously worked in sports therapy and more recently the urgent and emergency care sector, Scott has gained invaluable experience attending emergency medical cases over the years allowing him the opportunity to develop a well-rounded skill set and knowledge.

Scott is an active member of a well-known voluntary ambulance organisation in his spare time where he maintains many of his skills as well as training and assessing others in many aspects of medical care.

Occupational Health Technician

Alli has worked with Nick and Gail for over 16 years, at Safewell and a previous employer. Alli was the first Safewell employee and played a crucial part in helping Nick to grow the company and establish its high customer care and service standards. Whilst in the role of Office Manager for Safewell she was again a key player keeping all the cogs turning and everyone in check as Safewell grew 🙂 During this role she took on additional responsibilities and completed training to be an Occupational Health Technician. In 2015 Alli moved away from the area but she is still employed as a part time Occupational Health Technician for Safewell and her time served knowledge of the occupational health world is invaluable to us. In her spare time, Alli enjoys dancing, lunching with her girlfriends and spending lots of time with her three Grandchildren.
