The Safewell Story
Our Founders – Nick Evans and Gail Farrow
Nick and Gail’s journey together began way back in 1998 at Cardinal Health (now Catalent) in Swindon. Gail was the head of Occupational Health & Safety, and Nick joined her team two years later. They quickly became not just colleagues, but great friends.
Ten years later, Nick, a Chartered Safety Practitioner, left his job, driven by a passion to create a business that offered clear, practical, and easy to understand health and safety advice. In 2008, Safewell was born, starting from the humble beginnings of Nick’s home office. Soon after, Gail joined Nick to run the occupational health side of the business, bringing her wealth of experience in Occupational Health & Safety, a Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in Occupational Health & Safety, an MA in Health, Safety & Environmental Law, and her background as a registered general nurse.
In 2010, with the growing team needing more space to thrive, Safewell moved to its current location at Templars Way Industrial Estate, Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire. Over the years, Safewell has gone from strength to strength, expanding its portfolio of services to meet the diverse needs of many different clients. In recognition of this, Nick was honoured as ‘Wiltshire Business Person of the Year for Medium-Sized Businesses’ at the 25th Wiltshire Business Awards gala in 2019. His vision, dedication and motivation have set a high standard that we strive to uphold every day.
In late 2024, we faced a heartbreaking loss when Nick passed away suddenly. An active sportsman – running, cycling, working out at his gym daily, and running a local Taekwondo club as a black-belt instructor – his passing came as a shock. His loss is deeply felt by his colleagues, family, friends and members of the local community in which he was closely involved.
Nick’s legacy lives on. His influence, both as a leader and great friend, continues to inspire us every day. Safewell’s strength lies in its teamwork, and the business moves forward driven by the same passion and commitment that Nick and Gail instilled in the company. Our journey is a testament to the strong foundation they built.
With Gail at the helm as managing director, we look forward to many more years of growth and success.
