Fork Lift Truck Health Assessments

Fork Lift Truck Medicals

The HSE “Safety in working with lift trucks” guidance (HSG6)   outline guidance for forklift truck drivers to have forklift truck driver medicals at prescribed intervals. Good practice is to complete a forklift driver medical at the beginning of employment (or at least at commencement of a driving role), at the age of 40 and regularly thereafter.  Anybody over 65 is recommended to complete such a driver medical on an annual basis.

Where can Fork Lift Truck Medicals be Carried Out

As with most of our services, these can be at your workplace or our offices in Wootton Bassett. If it’s only a handful of people or individuals then our office works well otherwise it makes sense to arrange at your workplace. The medical will consist of

  • Audiogram
  • BP check
  • Urinalysis
  • Height/Weight Check
  • Eye sight check
  • General Health questionnaire, medical history check

What is a Fork Lift Truck Health Assessment?

Like all drivers at work, forklift truck drivers must be medically fit to drive a forklift truck. At Safewell we adopt the DVLA standards given by their Drivers’ Medical Unit, which is recommended by the HSE.
