about Safewell

Safety and Wellbeing, minus the jargon

The name Safewell originates from ‘Safety’ and ‘Wellbeing’ – the two halves of a person’s health at work – everything from ‘will this machine injure someone‘ to ‘is this job affecting employees’ health‘? Most consultancies pick one side of that line. we work across both, because in practice, they’re rarely separate problems.

What we actually do

Safewell provides practical health and safety consultancy, occupational health monitoring, and tailored training to help businesses protect their people, manage risk, and stay compliant.

Our health and safety consultancy is practical, proportionate and tailored to your business. No generic templates, just straightforward advice that helps you manage risk effectively.

Our occupational health monitoring services help employers protect their people and comply with legal requirements, including health surveillance, management referrals, safety critical medicals, and face fit testing.

Our training covers the essentials most workplaces need, including risk assessor, manual handling, fire marshal and first aid, alongside programmes for directors and managers.

Where we work

We’re based in Royal Wootton Bassett, near Swindon, and most of our clients sit within Wiltshire and the surrounding counties – close enough that we’re not a voice on the phone that you’ve never met and far enough to cover a wide patch of the South West and beyond.

Who we work with

Health and safety risk doesn’t care what industry you’re in. Our client list runs from fleet management, retail, and medical product manufacturers, through to packaging, small businesses, schools, estate agents, architects, churches, printers, and engineering companies.

The range is deliberate. A school and a fabrication yard need very different things from us – different hazards and regulations – and we’d rather stay broad and adapt to each client than narrow ourselves down to one sector and hand out the same advice to everyone.

John Williams Heating Services Ltd

We have worked with Safewell for many years and are retained clients, so we have developed an excellent working relationship with the team. However, this really came into its own when Covid 19 appeared.

As a Plumbing and Heating business, we were able to carry on working during the lockdown but only for responding to emergencies. We were obviously very concerned about the health and safety of our employees and before we even had chance to get in touch with Safewell, they had emailed us offering their assistance. It is hard to put down on paper how that made us feel - we like everyone else felt totally at sea, which way to turn, what to do? But Safewell were there guiding, supporting and being totally brilliant. Their attention to detail is very impressive and reassuring and we feel able to ask lots of questions without feeling silly.

During the pandemic Safewell helped us to write risk assessments, safety procedures and protocols. They kept in touch regularly, issuing new guidance as soon as it appeared and checking in with us. They held group Q&A sessions over Zoom which were helpful, and knowing other businesses were facing the same challenges and having the opportunity to discuss issues was invaluable. Their help during the preparation for a full return to work was brilliant, they enabled us to be fully prepared and feel in control, and when we had our first case of Covid within the team, because we had planned our response it felt ok.

I think our team felt very reassured by our robust approach and that our office was Covid secure.
We are extremely grateful to all the team at Safewell
