First Aid for Mental Health for Young People

The First Aid for Youth Mental Health course is designed for adults who work with or support young people (ages 12-18). It provides essential knowledge and practical skills to recognise common mental health issues in adolescents and offer effective early support.

Ideal for teachers, youth workers, coaches, and anyone in a role involving regular interaction with young people, the course covers a range of topics through engaging discussions, practical exercises, and role-play scenarios to build confidence and understanding.

 Successful participants receive a Level 2 Award on completion, which is valid for three years.

Training can be delivered at your location or at our premises in Wiltshire.

Gain an understanding of the stigma surrounding mental health

Recognize signs and symptoms of mental health conditions in young people, including anxiety, depression, stress, psychosis, eating disorders, self-harm, suicide and post-traumatic stress disorder

Develop skills to provide initial support and reassurance to young people in distress

Learn how to address substance use issues in adolescents

Implement action plans to support young people in crisis or non-crisis situations

Direct young people to appropriate professional help and resources
