Problem to Solve

A medium-sized high-end furniture company wanted to ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation which included a full review of their existing health and safety systems from the top down; including their risk assessments, fire risk assessments, health and safety policy and procedures, health and safety training and the health and safety systems for their retail outlets.

Safewell Solution

The company engaged Safewell to become their Retained Competent Health and Safety Advisers. Safewell visited the company in and began the process by completing an Umbrella Risk Assessment which takes a very broad review systematically of an extensive list of potential hazards and risks. From this, significant area to address based on risk priorities can be planed and mapped out. With Safewell’s help steps were then put into place to ensure and maintained existing legal compliance including revised and more comprehensive risk assessment covering the actual tasks the employees were doing; updated and more relevant fire risk assessments, a health and safety committee with trained safety reps, a more relevant health and safety manual for the warehousing operations and a complete health and safety system for their shops. The shop health and safety system has everything needed for the shop teams from inductions, safety inspections forms to employee training modules.
