Legionella Awareness

Legionella Awareness training is essential for anyone responsible for managing water storage and distribution systems in the workplace. It helps employers meet their legal duty under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated HSE Approved Code of Practice (ACOP L8), which outlines the control of Legionella bacteria in water systems.

Participants on our training course will learn about the bacteria, how it lives and grows in water systems, and how to identify potential sources of Legionella, understand the conditions that allow the bacteria to grow, and apply appropriate control measures to reduce the risk of infection. The training also covers water system flushing, temperature checking, and the critical need for accurate and timely record keeping and monitoring requirements, ensuring your organisation is compliant and audit-ready.

We offer different types of training, tailored to your specific needs, including:

  • Introductory half-day sessions for general awareness
  • Three-quarter day training in Legionella for Duty Holders with specific responsibilities
  • One-day Legionella and Water Hygiene course, offering a deeper look into practical control strategies and water system management

Training includes analysis, discussion, case studies, and practical exercises. It is ideal for caretakers, housing and care staff, facilities managers, and anyone who has a responsibility for managing Legionella.

Courses can take place at customer sites or at our location in Wiltshire.

We also have an online course in Basic Legionella Management.
